"Lets just call it a random act of kindness"

Brandy challenged us to write what we were thankful for over the next few days till Thanksgiving. Well this is one of the many moments I am thankful for.

I just ran to Meijer (which for those of you who don't know is like super walmart, but better) to get milk and bread. Yeah right. While I was in the checkout line Xander started his happy/warning noises. Which is this high pitched squeal accompanied by smiles, then straight faced, then tears. It's his, "Hello!! I'm here, figure out what I want before I start really screaming!!!" Ofcourse I was in the do-it-yourself checkout and he was in his carrier on the floor. This cute older couple was waiting in the line next to me and she came over and started talking to him, because to the layman he would appear to be happy. Eventually she could tell that these were not happy noises and her husband came over and asked if it would be ok if he bagged my groceries. I told him thank you but I thought I could do it to which he said that he would be happy to help out. By then Xander was screaming and I was only half way through scanning my items, which turned out to be ALOT. After I paid he loaded my cart and his wife said that she would push it so I could carry Xander. Then when we made it out to my van they loaded it. I told them really I could do it but he said, 'lets just call it a random act of kindness.'
To that wonderful Christlike couple I say:
Thank you.

Wow, I need to remember to do things like this! Now it's your turn, you'll have to pass on the "random act of kindess"!

I love people that are willing to help out with young mothers rather than look at you like "if you can't handle a kid in the store, why do you have one?"

What a sweet couple. Kind-of makes you want to be available for someone else doesn't it?

When those things happen don't you just want to rewind and ask their name and invite them over for dinner or become your new best friend or something? People in KY were always quick to lend a hand...or maybe I just always looked in dire need of a helping hand.

How sweet is that?! It is very hard for me to accept help, too. I think I have to do everything myself - even when I really do need the help. But really, it probably made their day to help you!

What a sweet couple!! It's always nice to have someone help you, instead of just stare and wonder if you can keep your child quiet :) What a "random act of kindness!"

What a great story. I love how she just called it a random act of kindness, like it was no big deal, and yet something you will probably not forget anytime soon.

That is such a sweet story. Makes you stop to think about what other people might be dealing with in life. It sures puts your own life into perspective.

What a wonderful experience! This touched my heart how they went above and beyond to truly be of service to you without wanting recognition for it.

Thanks for the great story. It's also good to know that my child isn't the only one that does the smile and then freak out. It happened today at the store, but unlike you people just stare at me like I'm doing something wrong, I wish there were more onld nice people in the world!!
