Eldorado Canyon State Park

Ok, with so many state parks close by we decided to buy a pass, which was actually a pretty good price considering it is about $7.00 to get into the parks. We decided to try out the hikes at the Eldorado Canyon. The boys have gotten so excited about all the hiking we can do here. On the way out we got off on the exit leading to the canyon and this is what we saw.
It almost brought tears to my eyes. And so funny that it is the same colors as the school.
The Canyon

There were many hikes here, we took the Rattle Snake Gulch Trail

It was a little warm making the way up, on the way down it cooled off a TON and rained on us a little, which Jacob and Xander were not so excited about.
The Trail leads you up the mountain to the Site of the old Crags Hotel. It was built in 1908 and was a resort for the wealthy until it mysteriously burnt down in 1912. I was amazed that they built it there. It took us about an hour to make the little over a mile hike up. It is said that people would actually DRIVE up the trail that we hiked. I can't see how that is at all possible, ofcourse I guess that cars were much smaller then.
Trav and the boys in front of the place where the fireplace once stood
The old Oven People have picked up little pieces of glass, plates and nails that are all over the place. This is on top of the old oven, kinda like a memorial to the Hotel.
Xander was much happier on the way home this time!
I call this his "CHEESE"
