So Toady Toad has passed on to the next pond. He was dropped the other day, by the "older" brother, and hasn't eaten lately. I changed his tank tonight and noticed that he was dragging an arm, or front leg (whatever). We fed him more crickets, which he ignored, and about half an hour later he was stretched out all funny. Trav is gone so I called and asked him what he thought I should do. He thought I should just buy another, but my schedule is crazy for the next couple of days and the boys are always with me, so I opted to bite the bullet and break the news.
"Jacob, come here sweety. I'm really sorry buddy but, Toady Toad died."
"WHAT?! But...I want him to live." (uh, my heart)
"I know sweety, but he is gone."
"His spirit is in Heaven???" ( again, my heart!)
"Yes bud."
"I wanna see his blood!"
"UM...he isn't bleeding. He just got sick and died."
"Well. (very matter of fact sounding) I guess we just need to buy another frog." (that was fast)
"Jacob!"
"Mommy, you just need to open his mouth and feed him."
"His mouth doesn't...(I rolled him over and it came open)"
"UGH!! (seeing the white tongue)Why is his tongue so old!!"
"Buddy lets flush him."
"But Mommy!! Jesus can fix him. He can fix his broken little body." (such drama)
"I don't think that He will bud."
We open the toilet and drop him in. I say "Good bye Toady Toad."
Jacob says loudly in his crazy voice "Bye Toady Toad!! See ya!!" and laughs as he flushes the toilet.
I blame his father for the lack of emotion.

Ahhh, your boys are so sweet and so stinkin' funny. We miss you guys! What are your plans for Christmas?
That's pretty funny. At least he didn't cry over it for days. It could be worse.
That is hilarious and sad all at the same time. Can you really flush a frog down the toliet? That's amazing! I guess I don't get out much.
What a cute story. Thanks for sharing! I did laugh. It was cute!
Great activity today. Good job!
Oh Jamie, The drama of a dead toad! Wow how boys and girls deal with things differently. My girls still talk about the death of our toad!
O.k., I just linked through to see what has been going on and this story totally cracked me up! I have heard about Toady Toad at preschool. It is so funny to see how kids react.
